An exciting opportunity for experienced registered Mental Health Nurses
An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced registered Mental Health Nurses to join our new Allocate on Arrival team. The role based at St Ann’s Hospital, Poole, requires working flexibly across our mental health inpatient wards and units, according to service need. This includes:
- Psychiatric Intensive Care Units
- Adult and Older persons Acute Assessment and Treatment wards
- Health Based Place of Safety (HBPoS)
About the Role
We are looking for RMNs with the experience, skills and willingness to work flexibly, taking charge and responsibility for leading and delivering patient care and treatment on shift, across a variety of inpatient clinical environments, who bring a positive attitude and ability to adapt and respond to working in this way.
St Ann’s Hospital provides care and treatment to those experiencing acute episodes of mental illness and supporting patients through distressing and vulnerable time in their lives. All wards aim to promote a calm and therapeutic approach and environment where our patients are supported by friendly, skilled and enthusiastic teams to enable them to move forwards with their recovery.
Working Hours
Full or part time hours available (minimum 22.5 hours per week) - this post requires shift working including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Requirements
Successful completion of the Trust Prevention and Management Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training is a requirement of this role.

Key Responsibilities
- Work flexibly across a range of services, including HBPOS, and Adult and Older adult Acute and PICU Inpatient Wards
- Taking “nurse in charge” responsibility on a ward or clinical area as required
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to adapt to different clinical wards and environments and take a positive approach in team working and leading delivery of patient care within the designated area of work
- Undertake therapeutic observation, engagement, assessment and treatment according to clinical need and in line with best practice and Trust policies
- Ensure accurate and timely clinical record keeping in regard to physical and mental health assessment and interventions
- When allocated to HBPoS, work in accordance with the Trust s136 policy, to ensure the safe care and treatment of persons detained in the HBPoS, including initial assessment of mental and physical health, and compliance with all legislative requirements under Mental Health Act
- May be required to accompany patients outside of the hospital, or on occasion to work on another clinical site, this will be within your working hours and with any required transport arranged
