Production Supervisor

Exeter, Devon
Salary: Up to £40,000 + Shift Premium + Excellent Benefits

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a global aerospace manufacturer with the recruitment of a Production Supervisor to join their manufacturing team in Exeter.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing supervisor who enjoys leading people, driving production performance and creating a positive team culture. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you'll be responsible for supervising shopfloor operations, maintaining high standards of quality, safety and productivity, whilst leading a team to achieve production targets within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Our client is looking for a strong people leader with a manufacturing background who leads by example and thrives on developing their team.

This is what you'll be doing

As Production Supervisor, you'll lead day-to-day manufacturing activities, ensuring production, quality and health & safety standards are consistently achieved whilst creating a positive and collaborative working environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising day-to-day production activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with production schedules.
  • Leading, motivating and developing production teams through coaching, training, performance management and regular feedback.
  • Allocating workloads and setting clear priorities to ensure production targets and KPIs are consistently achieved.
  • Monitoring production performance, identifying issues quickly and implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, process compliance and environmental, health & safety performance across the department.
  • Working closely with the Manufacturing Manager to support production planning, operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Carrying out performance reviews, supporting employee development and addressing day-to-day people management issues where required.
  • Encouraging a positive team culture through effective communication, accountability and leading by example.
  • Driving continuous improvement and problem-solving activities to improve productivity, efficiency and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Ensuring accurate production reporting and communicating operational updates effectively across the business.

The experience you'll bring

  • Previous experience leading teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience as a Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Team Leader or similar leadership position.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and react positively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience working to Health & Safety, Quality and operational standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S or Continuous Improvement techniques would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with KPIs, production reporting or ERP systems would be beneficial but isn't essential.
