SRB Teaching Assistant | ALN Teaching Assistant | SEN Teaching Assistant | Primary School | Full-Time | Term Time Only | Hengoed, Caerphilly

Location: Hengoed, Caerphilly
Start Date: 12th October 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (Term Time Only)
Pay: From £95 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract: Full Academic Year

Are you an experienced ALN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity within a supportive primary school?

Academics is currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate ALN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Hengoed, Caerphilly from September 2026. This full-time role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), supporting them to achieve their full academic, social and emotional potential.

This position would suit experienced ALN Teaching Assistants, SEN Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Support Workers, or individuals with relevant experience supporting children with ALN.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of Additional Learning Needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and wider school staff to deliver personalised learning strategies.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and engagement both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Support pupils with their emotional wellbeing, communication and social development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working as an ALN Teaching Assistant within an ALN/SEN setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and confidence supporting pupils with additional behavioural needs.
  • A patient, calm and resilient approach to supporting children.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A proactive, flexible attitude and a genuine passion for helping young people succeed.
