About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate ALN Teaching Assistant to support learners with Additional Learning Needs within a Further Education setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people and adult learners, helping them build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to succeed both in their studies and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with a range of additional learning needs, including autism, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and social/emotional/behavioural needs
  • Support lecturers and tutors in adapting learning materials and delivery methods to meet individual needs
  • Help learners develop independence, confidence, and essential life and study skills
  • Monitor and record learner progress, liaising with teaching staff and support teams
  • Assist with personal care where required, in line with individual care plans
  • Support learners during practical sessions, work placements, and enrichment activities
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

✅ What You’ll Need:

  • Experience working with young people or adults with additional learning needs (education, care, or similar setting)
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, or similar) is desirable but not essential
  • A genuine passion for helping learners overcome barriers and achieve their potential
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
