Who We Are
Founded in London in 2003, Alpha FMC is the leading global consultancy to the asset management, wealth management and insurance industries, with over 1,000 consultants across 17 offices and 970+ clients worldwide. From strategy and operating model design to data, digital, and technology implementation, we partner with many of the world's largest asset managers, wealth managers and insurers.
At Alpha, you'll work directly with industry leaders, gain exposure to a wide variety of projects and clients, and develop skills that span consulting, technology, operations, strategy, and financial services. While many consultants build expertise within a particular practice area, our collaborative culture encourages learning across teams and disciplines. Most importantly, Alpha is built around its people. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive, entrepreneurial, and close-knit environment where individuals are empowered to grow their careers, build meaningful relationships, and make an impact from day one. Through comprehensive training, mentorship, social events, and a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and community, we strive to create a place where talented people can do their best work and build long-term careers.
What You’ll Do
This role covers two tracks: Data Engineering and Digital Engineering. When you apply, you'll be asked to select which track best matches your skills and interests. Both sit within the same graduate community and training programme.
Data Engineering
Insurance & Asset Management
Alpha's Data & AI team works at the centre of our clients’ growth, enabling leading insurers and asset managers to build data platforms they can trust. We support clients across the public equities, private equity and real estate, secondaries, and London Market sectors, turning fragmented, hard-to-reach data into something usable for reporting, decision-making and AI. Our engineers work alongside client teams on live delivery, from pipeline builds through to agentic workflows, helping some of the biggest names in the industry modernise how they work with data.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Practical SQL and Python skills, applied to real projects rather than exercises
- How financial services companies manage data safely and meet regulatory requirements
- How to turn a business problem into a technical solution, working with people who understand the client's needs
