Established in 1990, Jarrolds Logistics is a Norfolk-based distribution and delivery service, part of The Jarrold Group. Our team of specialists is committed to providing reliable, secure and cost-effective delivery solutions tailored to our customers’ needs. Working in partnership with the nationwide APC Courier Network, we deliver parcels across the UK and internationally. With over 125 APC depots, we combine a nationwide network with a local, personal service, ensuring a flexible, efficient and high-quality delivery experience for our customers.
AM Manager
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on AM Manager to take responsibility for the early morning operation within Jarrolds Logistics. This is a permanent, part-time role, working Thursday and Friday from 02:30 to 10:30 and Saturday from 02:30 to 08:30.
A key operational role, responsible for ensuring the depot is fully prepared for the delivery day, freight is accurately processed and drivers are ready to leave the depot on time, delivering an accurate, controlled and efficient morning operation that sets the whole depot up for a successful day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day AM operation and ensuring the depot is operationally ready for the delivery day.
- Ensuring all inbound consignments are correctly received and scanned into the depot system.
- Maintaining freight accuracy and ensuring consignments are correctly sorted and allocated.
- Ensuring drivers load the correct consignments onto the correct vehicles and routes.
- Checking that freight is accounted for before vehicles leave the depot and escalating any shortages, discrepancies or operational issues.
- Ensuring drivers are prepared and depart the depot in a timely manner to support delivery performance and customer service.
- Coordinating the morning workload and ensuring operational priorities are clearly understood by the team.
- Identifying and resolving issues that could affect the delivery operation, escalating where appropriate.
- Maintaining good housekeeping, safe working practices and operational standards within the depot.
- Setting up the PM cage sortation so that the depot is organised and ready for the afternoon operation.
- Providing an effective handover to the wider operations team, highlighting outstanding freight, exceptions or issues requiring follow up.
- Working closely with the General Manager and wider depot team to continually improve accuracy, productivity and operational performance.

What We Are Looking For:
- Ideally has previous experience within logistics, warehousing, distribution, parcels or a similar operational environment.
- A valid forklift truck licence and previous experience operating a forklift truck are essential.
- Is organised, reliable and comfortable taking ownership in a busy, time-critical logistics environment.
- Works effectively in a fast-paced environment and is confident making operational decisions.
- Has strong attention to detail and understands the importance of freight and scanning accuracy, while maintaining a good balance between accuracy and pace.
- Can organise people and priorities to meet demanding operational deadlines, recognising that the effectiveness of the morning operation directly impacts our drivers, customers and overall depot performance.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with drivers, colleagues and management.
- Is proactive in identifying problems and finding practical, solutions-focused ways to resolve them.
- Understands the importance of health and safety and maintaining a well-organised depot.
