Role Description
The AM Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Orpington, responsible for overseeing morning warehouse and transport operations. This role includes:
- Coordinating parcel inbound and outbound flows
- Managing loading and unloading activities
- Ensuring accurate sorting and routing of consignments within tight time windows

The AM Operations Manager will:

- Lead and support operational staff
- Allocate resources
- Monitor performance to maintain service quality, safety standards, and on-time departures
The role also involves:
- Liaising with drivers and customer service teams
- Resolving operational issues
- Updating systems and records
- Contributing to continuous improvement of processes and procedures
Qualifications
- Strong operations management skills in logistics or courier environments, including shift coordination, resource planning, and performance monitoring.
- Experience in people management, such as supervising teams, managing rotas, coaching staff, and fostering a positive, safety-conscious work culture.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capability to interpret operational data, identify bottlenecks, and implement practical process improvements.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with drivers, warehouse staff, customer service, and external partners.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict morning deadlines.
- Proficiency with basic IT systems and logistics tools (e.g., parcel tracking platforms, warehouse management systems, spreadsheets).
- Knowledge of health and safety practices and compliance requirements within transport and warehouse operations.
- Previous experience in courier, parcel delivery, or transport operations is highly beneficial; leadership experience in a similar environment is preferred.
- Flexibility to work early morning shifts and adapt to changing operational demands.
- Relevant vocational training or qualifications in logistics, operations management, or a related field are an advantage.
