We’re looking for kind, reliable and compassionate people to join our Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) team in Burntwood. This is a role for someone who wants to make a real difference every day, supporting patients of all ages on their journeys to and from medical facilities.
Job Details
- Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract - 12 months
- Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off night shifts
- Hours: 40.25 hours per week
- Shift Timing: 18:00-06:00
Role Overview
An ACA is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive patients to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, either working with a colleague or independently.
- Hold a full UK manual driving licence and have a good degree of physical fitness for manual handling.
- Assisting in the transportation of ‘end of life’ patients, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times.
- Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
- Responsible for lifting, securing, and helping patients in and out of the Ambulance.
- Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centers/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
- Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical settings.
- Ensuring that the ambulance is kept safe, clean, and tidy.

- No previous ambulance experience required, full training provided.

Desired Candidate Profile
- Hold a valid UK manual driving licence (6 points maximum).
- Able to work flexible shifts (with notice).
- Experience in Care (HCA, Support worker, etc) - advantageous.
- Committed to patient care.
- Effective communicator and empathetic with others in what can often be emotional circumstances.
- Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
- Able to pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
- Natural flair for team working and collaboration.
