The Rugby Wolves are an adult contact American Football club based in Rugby, Warwickshire, providing competitive playing opportunities for adults of varied experience levels. The club is committed to developing players’ skills, promoting safe and structured football, and building a strong sense of community and teamwork. Training and games are organized to help players grow technically, tactically, and physically within a supportive environment. Volunteers and coaches play a key role in shaping the club culture and helping athletes reach their potential.
Role Description
This volunteer American Football Position Coach role focuses on leading a specific position group (please indicate your preferred position, such as offensive line, defensive backs, wide receivers, linebackers, or quarterbacks). Responsibilities include:

- Planning and delivering position-specific drills
- Supporting team practice sessions
- Providing constructive feedback on technique, fundamentals, and game awareness

The Position Coach collaborates with the Head Coach and coaching staff on:
- Playbook implementation
- Game plans
- Player development goals
The role also involves:
- Mentoring players
- Reinforcing safety and proper contact techniques
- Assisting with game-day preparation and sideline adjustments
This is an on-site role based in Rugby, requiring regular attendance at practices, meetings, and home/away fixtures.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of American Football rules, strategies, and fundamentals for at least one position group.
- Previous experience coaching or playing American Football at club, university, or equivalent level.
- Ability to plan and run structured, safe training sessions focused on skill development and conditioning.
- Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to guide and motivate adult athletes.
- Commitment to player welfare, including safe tackling techniques and adherence to club and league safety standards.
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable working within a coaching team and following a shared playbook and philosophy.
- Reliable availability for regular evening or weekend practices and game days in Rugby.
- Coaching certifications or relevant sports qualifications are beneficial but not essential; willingness to undertake training and development is highly valued.
