Maintenance Engineer – AMR Champion
Location: Telford
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Pattern: Days
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer – AMR Champion to join a busy automotive manufacturing environment in Telford.
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, with support from the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance & Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance and availability of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), as well as supporting wider plant equipment and facilities when required.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring reliable plant operation, minimising downtime and supporting production and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure AMR and equipment availability meets departmental targets.
- Carry out root cause analysis on repeat and major breakdowns and provide reports with recommended improvements.
- Identify and implement improvements to prevent recurring equipment issues.
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PM) schedules and recommend improvements.
- Provide technical support to internal customers, including non-breakdown-related issues.
- Ensure all health, safety and environmental procedures are followed during maintenance activities.
- Maintain and improve equipment to support consistent product quality.
- Attend relevant training and work in accordance with company standards.
- Apply 5S methodology within the maintenance area and wider factory.
- Work towards departmental and company objectives.
- Support management with ad-hoc projects as required.
- Promote and adhere to health, safety and environmental policies throughout the department and plant.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
- Time-served apprenticeship in mechanical and electrical engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum City & Guilds craft qualification / NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline, or equivalent.
- Experience fault-finding from electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic schematics.
- Willingness to develop a multi-skilled maintenance skillset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues.
- Experience of 5S.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
- HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience in a Tier 1 automotive supply environment.
- Previous AMR maintenance experience.
- Experience working with equipment such as:
- Hydraulic presses
- Conveyors
- Assembly cells
- ABB robots
- Siemens PLCs
- CNC machinery
