Opportunity for an Enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and reliable band 5 Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our anaesthetic and recovery team.
Our Recovery Areas
Our recovery areas cover 5 areas across the QHB site supporting 15 theatres providing first stage recovery to patients who have undergone a variety of surgery specialties including Trauma & Orthopaedics, General surgery, Gynaecology/Obstetrics, ENT, Urology, to name but a few.
Role Details
This role covers a 24/7 service with the expectation that the successful applicant supports this.
Previous experience of working in recovery, surgery or a critical care area is preferable but not essential. Must possess excellent communication skills.
Full support and training package provided for qualified staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Working as part of the Multi Disciplinary Theatre team.
- Work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- Ensure high standards of care in accordance with trust policies and procedures.
- Provide a safe environment to care for the unconscious patient, maintenance of airways and observations of vital signs. Identify surgical or anaesthetic complications.
- Provide pain management, fluid replacement, wound care as necessary.
- To assess plan, implement and evaluate surgical/anaesthetic/recovery care in a safe caring environment in which to meet the patient’s needs.
- Maintaining their dignity throughout the total episode of care.
- Provide individualized care, acting as the patient’s advocate in all matters relating to care given in a multidisciplinary environment within agreed policies and procedures.
