Analog Layout Engineer – 5nm and Below experience
Agile Analog is revolutionising the way Analog circuits are designed. We are developing a process-agnostic design methodology that uses automation to accelerate the generation of circuits and IP for our customers. Using our innovative technology, we have the capability to design circuits faster, to a higher quality and on any silicon process.
Based in Cambridge with a fantastic new managed office, we are also one of the few companies continuing to embrace the flexibility of hybrid and remote working. Should you not be local to Cambridge, or remote working appeals, feel free to apply. Please note that we are currently only accepting applications from candidates who already have the right to work in the UK.
We are disrupting methodologies that have remained largely unchanged for generations. If you think differently, enjoy working across multiple projects and want to use your knowledge to help develop new ideas and methodologies, we would love to hear from you.
What you will be doing
- Developing and implementing analog and mixed-signal IC layouts for TSMC 4nm FinFET technology and 5nm and below.
- Working with high performance advanced-node PDKs and technology-specific layout requirements is also essential.
- Creating and modifying analog layout at cell and macro level, with an emphasis on clean, robust and manufacturable layouts.
- Applying fundamental analog layout techniques including matching, symmetry, common-centroid structures, shielding and appropriate device placement and routing.
- Running and interpreting physical verification checks, including LVS and DRC, and supporting the resolution of layout issues.
- Working closely with circuit designers to understand layout requirements and translate circuit schematics into physical implementation.
- Supporting DFM and layout optimisation activities for TSMC 4nm.
- Contributing to improvements and automation of the analog layout process.
- Working efficiently and collaboratively across multiple projects to deliver high-quality IP.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What we need from you
- Hands-on experience with TSMC 4nm FinFET and 5nm and below technology is essential.
- Practical experience of analog or mixed-signal IC layout on advanced process nodes – This is high performance analog layout and you should be able to demonstrate experience working with such.
- Experience working with TSMC PDKs, technology files and design-rule requirements.
- Familiarity with physical verification, including LVS and DRC, and the ability to investigate and resolve layout issues.
- A good understanding of analog layout fundamentals, including device placement, matching, symmetry and routing.
- Experience using industry-standard analog layout tools.
- Ability to work effectively with circuit designers and other engineers.
- A willingness to contribute to new layout methodologies and automation.
- Scripting experience, particularly Python or SKILL, would be an advantage.
