Bioquell R&D Engineer
Bioquell, a brand of Ecolab, based at Andover Hampshire UK, designs and manufactures products based on Hydrogen Peroxide vapour technology used for decontamination in the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical sectors. The products and consumables are manufactured on the same site as the R&D facility and exported globally.
The role is based at Andover, where there are well-equipped prototype workshops and test rooms. The candidate will work within a 12-strong multidisciplinary R&D team consisting of 3 mechanical design engineers and 2 test and development engineers.
How You’ll Make an Impact

Development of Existing and New Products
- Carry out CFD/FEA analysis and physical experimentation to optimize the airflow, thermal performance, and structural integrity of new designs.
- Two-way communication with the engineering design team and other R&D engineers to implement analysis results into the design process.

Engineering Support and Expertise
- Conduct non-conformance reporting and corrective action.
- Ensure products comply with relevant regional directives, standards, and certification requirements.
- Liaise with Quality and Production teams on technical issues, identifying continuous improvement in the design process and products.

Analysis and Practical Work
- Perform a wide variety of analyses, primarily focusing on airflow/thermal.
- Use CFD analysis in-house with Ansys software and CAD modeling in Creo.
New Product Development
- Develop new products to widen and renew the product range.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders in the new product process.
- Use a variety of materials and manufacturing processes, some in-house and some sub-contracted.
- Update and change existing products due to obsolescence, production issues, site issues, and evolving requirements.
- Develop additional customer-specific requirements and features for a deeper understanding of the Pharmaceutical industry.
Production Support
- Work with Production on quality and process problems.
- Design equipment to aid the manufacturing process.

Customer Support
- Identify and address the root cause of customer issues.
- Develop test equipment for the global network of Service Technicians.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related subject.
- Proficiency with 3D modeling, specifically using Creo. Training can be provided to transfer from other software.
- Requirement to conduct some CAD design work.
- Expected to perform calculations and FEA (Thermal, stress) using Creo Simulate.
- CFD airflow experience.
