Job Description

About CRU:

CRU International is a leading provider of business intelligence and consulting services in the metals, mining, and fertilizer industries. With over 50 years of experience, we offer valuable insights and analysis that help our clients make informed decisions in an ever-changing global market.

About the role:

Join CRU as an Analyst focused on copper mining assets and asset-level modelling. You’ll turn client needs and industry research into robust analysis, high-quality data, and engaging client insights. You’ll also help strengthen CRU’s presence through integrity, collaboration, excellence, and a strong client focus.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution (essential).
  • Further education certification in a subject relevant to commodity research, such as geology, economics, or engineering (preferred).

Skills & Experience:

  • At least two years’ experience in mining and metals commodity research; direct industry experience is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to gather and critically analyse qualitative and quantitative data, identify trends and drivers, and develop conclusions and insights.
  • Strong numeracy, including the ability to interpret, manipulate, and manage large datasets and apply mathematical concepts.
  • Collaborative approach to working with a global analysis team and sharing learning and best practice.
  • Ability to balance personal initiative with effective teamwork.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients and industry participants across different channels.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop robust, defensible analysis across your remit, focusing on copper mining assets and asset-level modelling.
  • Create perspectives and insights for CRU’s wider content and client engagement.
  • Build an external profile as a trusted commodity analyst.
  • Support Service Leads in identifying business opportunities and growth areas.
  • Contribute to client meetings, demonstrations, and webinars, communicating clearly across written, verbal, and digital channels.
  • Build relationships with customer accounts and wider industry participants.
  • Respond to client and internal requests related to asset-level modelling.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research, develop industry contacts, and maintain accurate, relevant modelling assumptions.
  • Translate market and sector learnings into accurate, current, client-ready CRU data.
  • Organise and update data series used in customer deliverables, ensuring standardisation across asset models and commodities.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with technology teams and asset model updates with Economics and Market teams.
  • Support model debugging to maintain reliability and consistency.
  • Encourage the use of AI tools for secondary research.
