Lone Star Analysis
Lone Star Analysis is transforming the way leaders make decisions by bringing world-beating data analytics and AI to previously unsolvable problems.
We're looking for an Analyst – Data Science who will work with our clients and subject matter experts to build the predictive and prescriptive models and simulations behind our decision support tools.
If you're passionate about data analytics, mathematics, engineering, or software development and have a degree or relevant experience in these fields, we'd love to hear from you.
Company Overview
Lone Star Analysis UK is a start-up focused on transforming the way leaders make decisions. Bringing world-beating AI techniques to previously unsolvable problems, we are the UK affiliate of Lone Star Aerospace based in the United States. Since 2004, organisations in the US have trusted Lone Star to deliver actionable answers to complex problems in energy, defence, logistics, manufacturing, aerospace, transportation, and more.
We're already working in the UK across healthcare, defence, and sustainability to bring decision support solutions that help customers make smarter decisions faster. We combine predictive and prescriptive analytics, AI, and the experience of our people to enhance innovation, create economic strength, and make the world safer.
The Opportunity and What You’ll Do
The priority for this role is decision support tools development. What we deliver varies by client. Sometimes it is the answer: analysis, forecasts and recommendations our analysts produce on our platform and deliver as outputs. Sometimes it is the tool: a decision support application built on the platform that the client's own users work with. The platform underpins both, and this role works on both.
Depending on the project, the work leans towards Python data science, building models with the standard scientific libraries, or towards getting those models onto the platform, whether we run them for the client or the client runs them. You will work alongside our analysts and our platform developers.
Decision Support Tools Development
- Leveraging proprietary and open-source software to build and develop predictive and prescriptive models and simulations that address client-specific questions and decision-making needs.
- Engaging with the client to identify and collate data required to populate the models and generate accurate simulations.
- Conducting in-depth data analysis, including simulations and forecasts, to provide valuable insights for clients.
- Ensuring that models are specifically customised for each client's requirements.
- Testing models and tools to ensure that they function as expected and meet the client's requirements before deployment.
Client Engagement
- Engaging with clients to gain a deep understanding of their business objectives, challenges, and optimisation requirements.
- Identifying critical business questions or problems that can be solved with decision support tools, focusing on the client's strategic needs.
- Collecting detailed requirements from clients to ensure that the decision support tools and models align with their specific needs and business processes.
- Using data analysis to provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations, helping clients make informed, data-driven decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
