Analyst - Origination Energy Mining and Industries
About the team:
Global Banking and Advisory (“GLBA”) is at the heart of supporting societal and environmental progress. We advise our clients and provide them with direct and indirect capital to support projects that have a significant positive impact. GLBA combines a recognized wholesale coverage with world-class product, financing and advisory expertise within one team, enabling us to best support our clients.
GLBA is organized around:
- Origination (“ORI”): encompassing the Financing, Investment Banking and Coverage teams, and a Sustainable and Positive Impact Finance Solutions team, all with a very strong sectorial alignment.
- Distribution (“DCS”): a joint team between GLBA and the bank’s market activity (“MARK”), adding both Business Units’ strengths to help sell credit assets at scale. It combines the Advisory, Structuring and Financing, Syndication, Credit Trading and Credit Sales functions.
- Credit Portfolio Management (“CPM”), actively managing risks and resources, ensuring the respect of the ESG commitments and proposing the best-in-class digital and data-based portfolio management.
ORI combines our Financing, Investment Banking and Coverage teams to leverage collective intelligence to bring greater client financing and advisory solutions across our chosen sectors, which in turn reflect the megatrends of tomorrow. Focus is on generating more fees, leveraging more investment banking products and services, including Bernstein and our ESG-related expertise.
As part of GLBA Origination the Energy, Mining and Industries (“EMI”) Team is delivering tailor-made financing solutions to raise capital for large scale international investments in a range of sectors that are essential to the energy adaptation and the robustness of its supply chains. These sectors are linked by strategic value chains ranging from critical minerals extraction and refining, their industrial transformation and recycling, the wider energy sector including power (thermal, renewable, nuclear), LNG, petrochemical, refining, pipelines and storage and all associated infrastructures. More particularly the Team has been at the forefront of supporting the emergence of new sectors such as hydrogen, green metallurgy, gigafactories, battery storage, carbon capture, clean fuels etc.
The EMI Team is a market leader in financial advisory and one of the largest arrangers and underwriters in its sectors. It is also responsible for the global relationship (PCRU) for certain clients active in the sectors it covers. It works closely with IBD and SSL teams, including under joint mandates, to offer integrated solutions including debt, hybrid capital and/or equity. Activity in the sectors covered by EMI are governed by certain CRC, CORISQ and sector policies. The EMI franchise relies on the combination of industry sector specialisation, relationship with financial sponsors and leadership in structured finance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
