Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Metabolomics Group within Product Safety as an Analytical Chemist. Within this role you will play a vital part in supporting the development of Syngenta active ingredients. You will lead and coordinate high-throughput metabolomics data generation, working within a dynamic, fast-paced team. As a technical expert, you will not only execute complex analytical workflows but also shape experimental programs, solve challenging technical problems, and coordinate sample pipelines to meet tight business deadlines. This role offers excellent opportunities to work across matrix teams, both internally and externally, and to work closely with supporting analysts to meet project deadlines. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading High-Throughput Pipelines: Managing and delivering the LC-MS metabolomics workflow, while collaborating with other teams to ensure efficient end to end execution.
- Delivering high quality data: Being responsible for generating and delivering high quality metabolomics data within agreed timelines, while coordinating sample logistics, instrument scheduling, data acquisition, quality control and data transfer activities.
- Providing analytical expertise: Troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining and supporting the development of analytical methods and sample preparation protocols.
- Ensuring Data Quality & Integrity: Ensuring exceptional data quality by strictly adhering to QA/QC procedures, while proactively documenting and communicating technical metadata and experimental observations to bioinformatics partners to facilitate seamless downstream processing.
- Collaborating and sharing expertise: Coordinating study-specific workflows, while providing technical guidance and mentorship to colleagues when needed.

Qualifications
What we are looking for
- Degree in Chemistry, Metabolomics, or related field with demonstrated LC-MS experience (preferably High Resolution Accurate Mass).
- Proven ability to manage and process large-scale sample sets with high precision.
- Strong proactive troubleshooting skills for analytical methods and instrumentation.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to coordinate workflows and convey data.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with automated sample preparation (well-plate robotics) and metabolomics workflows.
- Familiarity with Thermo Orbitrap MS and software (Xcalibur, Freestyle).
