We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team in Nottingham on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations and ensuring scientists have the equipment, materials, and resources needed to deliver high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the smooth running of laboratory operations by maintaining clean, organised, and well-stocked laboratory areas.
- Manage laboratory materials, including receiving, labelling, tracking stock, and updating relevant databases.
- Prepare reagents and other materials required by scientific teams.
- Carry out routine calibration and maintenance activities on laboratory equipment such as pipettes and balances.
- Complete daily monitoring activities, including checking laboratory water systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Issue, maintain, and monitor laboratory logbooks and associated records to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and auditable documentation in line with quality requirements.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain all required training records.

Skills and Experience Required
Essential
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to follow procedures and work consistently to quality standards.
- Basic IT skills, including experience using databases and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- A proactive approach and willingness to support a range of laboratory activities.
- Ability to work safely and responsibly within a laboratory environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a laboratory, scientific, quality, manufacturing, or regulated environment.
- Experience maintaining laboratory documentation or record-keeping systems.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
- Experience calibrating or maintaining laboratory equipment.
