We are looking for a talented Analytical Structural and Dynamic Systems Tech Specialist to join our Engineering team at Cummins in Darlington, United Kingdom.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Conduct advanced numerical simulations and analysis to evaluate the structural performance, durability, fatigue life, vibration behaviour, and overall reliability of components and systems.
- Apply modelling and simulation tools such as ANSYS, FE-Safe, AVL Excite, GT-Suite, and other engineering software to support design decision-making and product development.
- Lead the correlation and validation of simulation methodologies through comparison with physical test data, ensuring robust and accurate predictive capabilities.
- Act as a technical focal point for structural dynamics, durability, fatigue, and system-level simulation activities within cross-functional project teams.
- Collaborate with Design, Product Validation, Materials, Thermal Sciences, and Manufacturing teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions that meet customer and business requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by developing analysis standards, modelling best practices, automated workflows, and innovative digital engineering solutions.
- Support root cause investigations for field, test, and manufacturing issues through advanced simulation techniques and data-driven problem solving.
- Mentor and support engineers, graduates, and technical teams while contributing to the development of future simulation capabilities and engineering strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Strong knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration, fatigue, durability, and finite element analysis principles.
- Experience using engineering simulation and modelling tools such as ANSYS, FE-Safe, AVL Excite, GT-Suite, MATLAB, Python, or similar software.
- Proven ability to analyse complex engineering problems, interpret results, and provide practical design recommendations.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across global cross-functional teams.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering, Applied Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant experience in structural analysis, simulation, product development, or mechanical systems engineering within a technical engineering environment.
- Experience supporting complex projects involving simulation, validation, durability, vibration, or product performance analysis is highly desirable.
- Professional engineering accreditation or progress towards chartership is advantageous.
