About The Role

We are seeking an analytics engineer to join our UK Motor team, a rapidly expanding segment of our business focused on automotive financing solutions. In this role, you will work closely with analysts, product teams, backend engineers, and business stakeholders to enhance how data is structured, transformed, and utilized across the organization. Your primary focus will be on establishing a robust analytical foundation that enables teams to generate insights quickly and reliably while maintaining high standards for data quality, scalability, and maintainability.

Your contributions will include developing data models that support lending decisions, pricing strategies, portfolio analysis, and investor reporting. You will also play a key role in promoting best practices within the analytics engineering culture and supporting the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure. By ensuring our data warehouse remains a reliable and strategic asset, you will help the business make data-driven decisions with confidence.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a modern data stack centered around SQL, Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and Claude, empowering you to leverage the latest tools and technologies in analytics engineering.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a solid foundation in analytics engineering and the ability to apply their skills pragmatically in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong data modeling skills and a good understanding of how to structure analytical datasets for reliability and usability. Experience with ELT pipelines and transformation at scale, particularly using dbt, is essential. Familiarity with Snowflake or other modern cloud data warehouses is also required.

You should demonstrate proactiveness in identifying areas for workflow improvements and proposing effective solutions. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style are vital for working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Additionally, comfort with AI tools to enhance workflows and improve quality is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Building and refining data models that underpin lending decisions, pricing, portfolio analysis, and investor reporting.
  • Championing data standards and contributing to the development of a strong analytics engineering culture.
  • Supporting and collaborating with analysts at various technical levels to translate requirements into robust data pipelines.
  • Triaging and resolving issues affecting the analytics pipeline or downstream data trust, and suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintaining and evolving the company's modern data stack, ensuring high standards of data quality and system performance.
