About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Android Developer to join CGI’s dynamic mobile engineering team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance native Android applications that deliver seamless user experiences. Working closely with product managers, designers, QA specialists, and fellow developers, you will contribute to scalable mobile solutions that meet client needs and adhere to best practices in software development. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects within an Agile environment, utilizing the latest Android SDKs, tools, and frameworks. The role requires a hybrid working model with on-site presence in Glasgow once a week, with additional meetings as needed, and may necessitate UK Security Clearance depending on project requirements. Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess proven experience in native Android application development within Agile settings. A strong technical foundation, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality mobile experiences and a desire to stay abreast of emerging Android technologies.
Key Qualifications Include
- Commercial experience developing native Android applications using Kotlin and/or Java
- Proficiency in integrating RESTful APIs and third-party libraries/services
- Solid understanding of Android UI/UX principles and responsive design
- Experience working within Agile or Scrum methodologies
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
- Experience with unit testing and automated testing strategies
- Knowledge of Android SDKs, tools, and best practices for app development
- Experience publishing and maintaining apps on the Google Play Store
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Enthusiasm for learning new Android frameworks and technologies
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks, including:
- Designing and developing native Android applications using Kotlin and/or Java
- Creating responsive, user-focused interfaces in collaboration with UI/UX teams
- Integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services to enhance app functionality
- Writing clean, scalable, and maintainable code following industry best practices
- Participating in peer code reviews and Agile team collaborations to ensure code quality
- Resolving application issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks promptly
- Supporting unit testing and automated testing frameworks to ensure app reliability
- Maintaining and enhancing existing Android applications and features
- Validating app compatibility across various Android devices and OS versions
- Managing app deployment and updates through the Google Play Store
- Innovating by leveraging the latest Android SDKs, tools, and frameworks
