Senior Android Engineer – Fintech - 6m OUTSIDE contract
💷 Up to £500/day | Outside IR35
📆 6-Month Contract
📍 Central London – 3 days onsite
We’re working with a leading fintech scale-up looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer to join their mobile engineering team on an initial 6-month contract.
📱 This is a highly product-focused role, working on a major Android product build and creating polished, data-rich mobile experiences. You’ll have genuine end-to-end ownership, from initial idea and technical approach through to testing and release.
👨 💻 A senior doer
This is an important one: they need someone senior who is still very close to the code.
They’re not looking for a hands-off Lead, they want a highly technical, hands-on Senior Android Engineer who can make good architectural decisions but still enjoys getting stuck into the implementation.
You’ll also need to be a confident, clear communicator who can articulate your thinking, work effectively with Product and Design, challenge ideas constructively and explain the reasoning behind technical decisions.
🛠️ What you'll be working on
- Building new features with Kotlin & Jetpack Compose
- Creating polished data-rich UIs, dashboards & visualisations
- Working with design systems and reusable UI components
- Taking end-to-end ownership of features through to release
- Making pragmatic architecture & system design decisions
- Integrating with backend services and APIs
- Contributing to testing, CI/CD & release processes
- Challenging requirements and contributing ideas to the product
- Using modern AI development tools to improve engineering productivity

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
