About The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Android Developer with a strong background in Kotlin to support a secure government programme. This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical applications within a highly sensitive environment that requires SC clearance. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing Android applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of security and performance. This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting, contributing to the full development lifecycle from design through deployment.

Qualifications

  • Proven commercial experience in Android development, with a strong portfolio of published applications.
  • Expertise in Kotlin programming language, with a solid understanding of modern Android development practices.
  • Current or recent Security Clearance (SC) is essential, or the ability to obtain it promptly.
  • Experience working within secure government or highly regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications using Kotlin.
  • Collaborate with product owners, UX/UI designers, and other developers to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Implement security best practices to ensure applications meet government security standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure optimal application performance and stability.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of code, features, and technical specifications.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in Android development to continuously improve skills and application quality.
