About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Engineer to join our Product & Technology department at Just Eat. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing scalable, high-quality Android applications that serve millions of users daily. Your expertise will influence the architecture and performance of our mobile platforms, ensuring a smooth and engaging user experience. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and Backend Engineers, you will drive technical excellence and innovation within our Android ecosystem. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead feature development, optimize app performance, and mentor junior engineers, all while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional digital experiences.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Android development, with proven experience in delivering high-quality mobile applications. You should possess deep knowledge of Kotlin and Android architecture patterns, including MVVM and Clean Architecture. Familiarity with modern Android tools and frameworks such as Jetpack Compose, Dependency Injection, and automated testing is essential. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems like Git, and build tools such as Gradle is also required. A passion for staying ahead of industry trends and a commitment to code quality and best practices are vital. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively within a team, and a proactive approach to technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex, scalable features for our Android applications, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and performance.
- Drive best practices in mobile architecture, including MVVM and Clean Architecture, to maintain code quality, modularity, and testability.
- Continuously monitor, profile, and optimize app performance, focusing on battery efficiency, startup times, and UI responsiveness.
- Act as a technical leader within the team by mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user needs into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with product goals and user experience standards.
- Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD pipeline setup to ensure robust and maintainable codebases.
- Stay informed of emerging Android technologies and industry trends, integrating innovative solutions into our development processes.
