Android Developer
Location: London, UK
Work Model: Fully onsite (weekly 5 days)
Contract: 6 months initially (Inside IR35)
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to design, develop and maintain high-quality Android applications. The successful candidate will work closely with Product, UX/UI, Backend and QA teams to deliver scalable, secure and high-performing mobile applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Android applications using Kotlin.
- Build modern, responsive user interfaces using Jetpack Compose.
- Implement clean and scalable Android architecture.
- Integrate REST APIs and backend services.
- Develop reusable and maintainable components.
- Write unit, integration and UI tests.
- Troubleshoot bugs, crashes and application performance issues.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Work closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, Backend Developers and QA Engineers.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated build/deployment processes.
- Maintain and improve existing Android applications and legacy code where required.
- Follow secure coding, accessibility and software engineering best practices.

Mandatory Skills
- 4+ years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong Kotlin experience.
- Strong knowledge of Android SDK.
- Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose.
- Experience with Android architecture such as MVVM / MVI / Clean Architecture.
- Strong understanding of Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
- Experience integrating REST APIs.
- Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
- Experience with JUnit / Espresso or equivalent testing frameworks.
- Good understanding of Android lifecycle, navigation and application performance.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

- Java / legacy Android development.

- Retrofit / OkHttp.
- Room Database.
- Firebase / Crashlytics.

- Experience with mobile application security.
- Experience publishing applications to the Google Play Store.
- Fintech, banking or payments experience.
