Android Engineer – Kotlin & Jetpack Compose

Location: Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom

Overview

Android Engineer responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality mobile applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. The role spans the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, testing, API integration, CI/CD, and reliable app releases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain Android applications and features.
  • Write clean, scalable and maintainable Kotlin code.
  • Build reusable components using Jetpack Compose and modern Android architecture.
  • Apply MVI/MVVM patterns and software engineering best practices.
  • Develop unit and integration tests to ensure application quality.
  • Integrate Android applications with server-side APIs and microservices.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.
  • Debug and resolve software defects and production issues.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing and deployment.
  • Support reliable releases across Google Play and Huawei AppGallery.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to architecture, development processes, and the wider engineering community.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience developing Android applications.
  • Kotlin development experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose.
  • Strong understanding of modern Android architecture, including MVI and/or MVVM.
  • Experience building reusable, efficient, and maintainable software components.
  • Unit and integration testing experience.
  • Experience integrating applications with REST APIs and microservices.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and tools.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and code review skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
