About Algo1

algo1 is a VC-backed, stealth-mode startup building behavioural AI for the retail industry. Our platform has been built from the ground up with no legacy systems, no patchwork, just a clean slate and a clear vision. Our mission is to bring the intelligence of modern machine learning directly to the in-store retail experience.

Our obsession with grocery retail and the shopper experience sets us apart. If you're excited by the opportunity to transform an experience that touches millions of people every day, you'll feel right at home here.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Android Engineer to help with the development of a cutting-edge consumer facing app designed to change the physical in-store shopping experience. You’ll collaborate closely with our team of ML & backend engineers and product to deliver a mobile experience that feels fast, personalised, and deeply responsive to user context.

What You’ll Own

  • Architect and drive the development of complex Android features, including robust real-time communication and bi-directional data flows.
  • Integrate complex ML features into the UI/UX, bridging the gap between the Edge AI team’s models and the user interface.
  • Define and evolve the mobile codebase using modern architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM, Clean Architecture) to ensure scalability.
  • Collaborate, working closely with product and design to turn complex technical capabilities into polished user interactions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Curiosity about behavioural data and context-aware design.
  • A product and user oriented mindset: you think beyond the code, caring about the shopper experience and weighing engineering decisions against real user impact.
