About The Role
We are seeking passionate and skilled Android Engineers to join our dynamic team at Engine by Starling. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and enhancing our award-winning Android application and internal tooling. You will have the opportunity to build new features and products from scratch, ensuring they are configurable, scalable, and maintainable. As part of our collaborative environment, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, QA engineers, and fellow developers, to deliver high-quality solutions that support our mission of changing banking for good. Your responsibilities will include owning your projects, sharing knowledge, and continuously striving for excellence in everything you do.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Android development with a focus on creating accessible, secure, and maintainable applications. You should have experience working with modern Android libraries and frameworks such as Dagger, Realm, Retrofit, Coil, Compose, and Coroutines. A good understanding of internationalization, accessibility standards, and security best practices is essential. Familiarity with testing frameworks like Espresso and JUnit, as well as experience with CI/CD pipelines, will be advantageous. We value self-driven individuals who are eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a fast-paced fintech environment. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory if you have relevant hands-on experience.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of our Android app, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Design, build, and maintain new features and products from initial concept to deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and translate them into high-quality code.
- Implement security best practices across all layers of the application, prioritizing user data protection and privacy.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, utilizing frameworks such as Espresso and JUnit for UI and unit testing.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and team discussions to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assist in migrating legacy codebases from XML layouts and RxJava2 to modern architectures like Compose and Coroutines.
- Contribute to the development of SDKs supporting international clients, ensuring compliance with global standards.
- Engage in regular learning and development activities, staying updated with the latest Android and fintech trends.
