About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join our client's dynamic Mobile Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping and evolving high-quality mobile applications within a fast-paced digital environment. Your expertise will drive technical excellence, influence architecture decisions, mentor fellow engineers, and deliver exceptional mobile experiences that generate tangible value for customers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Engineering to define innovative solutions, guide technical strategies, and promote best practices in Android development. The role involves taking ownership of complex mobile initiatives from discovery through to deployment, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence both technological and team development aspects, elevating engineering standards and delivering impactful features efficiently. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement, making a significant contribution to the company's digital success.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a combination of technical expertise and leadership skills. Essential qualifications include significant experience in building and delivering native Android applications, with expert-level knowledge of Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading the technical delivery of features or projects from initial concept through to successful release. A strong understanding of mobile architecture and modern engineering principles is essential, along with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. A passion for creating products that genuinely solve customer problems, coupled with strong testing practices focused on quality and reliability, is vital. Candidates should be adept at managing technical dependencies, risks, and constraints, as well as defining, measuring, and improving engineering quality metrics. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills are required to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. Desirable qualifications include exposure to Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP), experience working within large-scale Agile teams, and involvement in evolving mobile engineering standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of native Android applications, ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to define technical solutions that align with business goals.
  • Take ownership of complex mobile initiatives, guiding projects from discovery through to deployment and post-launch support.
  • Architect scalable, maintainable, and secure mobile solutions, incorporating modern engineering principles and best practices.
  • Mentor and support fellow engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate technical dependencies, risks, and constraints throughout project lifecycles.
  • Define, monitor, and improve engineering quality metrics to ensure delivery of reliable and robust mobile applications.
  • Contribute to the evolution of mobile engineering standards and best practices within the organization.
  • Engage with stakeholders effectively, providing technical insights and updates on project progress.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Android development to continually enhance product offerings.
