About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Android-focused Software Engineer II to join our dynamic mobile development team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining Android applications that serve our global user base. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless, high-quality mobile experiences. This position offers a remote-first working environment, with optional in-person meetings in Oxford or London, accessible within a 1–2 hour commute. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mobile development, a strong understanding of Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, and a desire to work in a fast-paced, innovative setting that values continuous learning and growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in Android development with a strong portfolio of published applications.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin, with experience using Jetpack Compose and MVVM architecture.
  • Familiarity with Kotlin coroutines for asynchronous programming.
  • Experience working with GraphQL and integrating backend services.
  • Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and communicate clearly across diverse teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Android applications with a focus on performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to define project requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Implement UI components using Jetpack Compose, ensuring a responsive and intuitive user experience.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality releases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and workflows.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Android development and mobile technologies.
  • Support the deployment and monitoring of applications, addressing issues proactively to ensure optimal performance.
