Midwife Role
We are looking for an experienced Midwife who is passionate about antenatal care, high profile, accessible, and a responsive leader with patient, staff, service, and resource responsibility.
Role Overview
The postholder will encourage team working, organize others in their actions, set priorities, objectives, and goals, and will be able to make proactive evidence-based decisions within their scope of professional practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team, organize, and achieve outlined objectives and goals set within the UHCW vision.
- Manage a roster, budget, sickness, appraisals, and quality improvement projects.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills, facing many competing demands, and exercise excellent judgement in dealing with both clinical and managerial challenges.
- Work closely with other ward managers, Matrons, Labour Ward Coordinators, and the multi-disciplinary team.
Requirements
- Provide an immunization and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Role Focus
The Ward Manager post will focus on the day-to-day operational management and leadership for the staff and services provided on the Antenatal Ward. The postholder will be expected to maintain clinical expertise, undertaking Band 7 duties in line with the needs of the service, and be required to work clinically as required.

Communication Skills
Highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations. Undertake bleep-holder and on-call responsibilities for the maternity unit on a regular basis.
