Administration of Justice Traffic Process Team Sergeant
Type of Contract: Full Time
Rank/Grade: Sergeant / Temporary Sergeant (candidates who have successfully passed the Inspectors National Police Promotion Framework (NPPF) exam may apply).

Description Of Department
The Administration of Justice (AoJ) department works alongside operational police officers and criminal justice partners, including the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and HM Courts & Tribunals Service, to support effective prosecutions, deliver high standards of victim and witness care, and ensure the efficient administration of justice.
The department comprises the Traffic Process Team, Volume Crime Team, Complex Case Team, and Audio Transcribers. This vacancy is for the Traffic Process Team Supervisor.
Traffic Process Team Supervisor
The Traffic Process Team is responsible for the administration of non-imprisonable, summary-only traffic offences and the oversight of investigations relating to slight injury road traffic collisions (RTCs).
The post holder will oversee the efficient processing of traffic offences, maintain high standards of data quality, and supervise staff responsible for case progression and court processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Review offence information and recorded evidence, ensuring records are accurately maintained across relevant systems.
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and timely processing of data within the team.
- Manage the production and issue of Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIPs), reminder letters, Conditional Offers, and Driver Awareness Course referrals.
- Prepare, review, and finalise court files, ensuring compliance with National File Standards and CPS requirements.
- Ensure all files meet evidential standards and are submitted within required timescales.
- Oversee the progression of non-imprisonable, summary-only traffic offences through the criminal justice process.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to Police Liaison Officers responsible for prosecuting first-hearing traffic matters at the City of London Magistrates' Court.
- Attend court when required to provide evidence relating to administrative and postal processes associated with traffic offence prosecutions.
Administration of Justice Warrants
The post holder is responsible for managing the AoJ Warrants Inbox and working closely with the AoJ Caseworker Warrant Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting initial reviews and risk assessments of newly created warrants.
- Grading warrants in accordance with national guidance and the Suspect Offender Management Warrants SOP (Category A, B, and C).
- Reviewing warrant finalisation requests and ensuring compliance with force policies and procedures.
- Providing advice and guidance to Officers in Case (OICs) regarding warrant management.
- Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure effective and compliant warrant administration.
Volume Crime Team
The Volume Crime Team acts as a liaison between the CPS and Officers in Case (OICs), ensuring CPS file requests are completed within required timescales.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinating CPS file build requests.
- Compiling and submitting case material in accordance with National File Standards through Niche Case Prep.
- Liaising with criminal justice partners, including CPS, HM Courts & Tribunals Service, HM Prison Service, solicitors, Victim Support, victims, and witnesses.
Complex Case Team
The Complex Case Team supports the progression of complex investigations through effective case file preparation and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinating CPS complex case file requests.
- Compiling and submitting case material in accordance with National File Standards through Niche Case Prep.
- Managing the receipt, recording, storage, and administration of exhibits.
- Liaising with criminal justice partners, victims, and witnesses to support effective case progression.

- Knowledge of key policing legislation and the Criminal Justice System.
- Understanding of the Victims' Code of Practice.
- Knowledge of financial processes.
