Overview

A private estate in Epsom, Surrey is seeking an experienced and highly reliable Groundskeeper to take responsibility for the upkeep and presentation of the extensive grounds and outdoor areas.

This is a varied, hands-on position encompassing landscaping and horticulture alongside general estate maintenance and the upkeep of outdoor leisure facilities. The successful candidate will work closely with other estate staff and external contractors, ensuring the grounds are maintained to an exceptional standard throughout the year.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, practical, and highly observant, with the ability to work independently, identify areas requiring attention, and take ownership of their responsibilities. Previous experience working on a large private estate or high-end residential property is essential.

The schedule is five days per week with two days off, with flexibility required depending on the needs of the estate. Live-in accommodation may be available for the right candidate.

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, hedges, pathways, and landscaped areas, including mowing, pruning, planting, strimming, and seasonal maintenance
  • Carry out general exterior maintenance and repairs across the estate, including fencing, gates, driveways, gutters, outdoor furniture, and equipment
  • Monitor irrigation systems, plant health, and groundskeeping equipment, arranging servicing or specialist contractors as required
  • Maintain outdoor facilities including the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, cold plunge, tennis court, ponds, and fountains
  • Assist with the upkeep of equestrian areas, fields, and other outdoor areas as required
  • Keep workshops, storage areas, and groundskeeping equipment clean, organized, and well maintained
  • Liaise with household management, other estate staff, and external contractors
  • Assist with the care of the estate's two guard dogs if required

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Groundskeeper, Gardener, or Landscaper on a large private estate or high-end residential property
  • Strong knowledge of lawn care, landscaping, irrigation, planting, and seasonal grounds maintenance
  • Confident using and maintaining professional groundskeeping machinery and equipment
  • Practical with good general maintenance and repair skills
  • Proactive, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Previous experience working within a UHNW private household or estate is highly desirable
  • Excellent command of English
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors year-round

Salary and Benefits

The family is offering up to £45,000 gross per annum for a live-out candidate, depending on experience.
