Drive the strategic direction of a modern API Marketplace platform within a cloud-first environment. Work with business and technology stakeholders to shape innovative digital solutions and platform capabilities. Lead architectural decisions that influence enterprise-wide API, cloud, and integration strategies.
The Role
As a Solution Architect (API & GCP), you will be responsible for leading the architecture and strategic evolution of an API Marketplace platform within the API Lab. You will work closely with product, engineering, business, and vendor teams to define platform roadmaps, shape innovative solutions, and ensure alignment between technology investments and business objectives. The role requires strong expertise in cloud-native architectures, API ecosystems, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), combined with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive enterprise-scale architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive architectural decisions for the API Marketplace platform.
- Define and guide the strategic roadmap for the Marketplace in collaboration with product and engineering teams.
- Align technology solutions with business priorities, acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal platform teams, business functions, and third-party vendors.
- Shape innovative solution propositions and influence platform and vendor capabilities to enhance Marketplace offerings.
- Provide technical leadership within architecture forums, governance reviews, and design decision processes.
- Lead the design of cloud-native and hybrid cloud solutions with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Champion modern API design principles, API security, scalability, performance, and integration best practices.
- Evaluate and leverage emerging technologies, including Generative AI, where appropriate to support business objectives.
- Ensure solutions are designed with strong non-functional requirements, including security, resilience, scalability, sustainability, performance, and governance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
