GS1: Global Standards for a More Connected Commerce

GS1 is the international not-for-profit organization that develops and maintains the world's leading standards for identifying products, locations, and supply chain partners — the familiar barcode being just the most visible part of its work. Present in over 110 countries through a network of local Member Organisations, GS1 supports millions of businesses across all sectors (retail, healthcare, transport, logistics, industry...) to streamline trade, strengthen traceability, and enable interoperability of systems worldwide.

Position Summary

This is a limited in time position ending 30 June 2029

Retail products require more data than ever to support regulatory, ecommerce, and supply chain needs. From listing a toy on Amazon to registering a t-shirt's Digital Product Passport to follow EU regulations, companies need interoperable data that is understood by machines and humans alike. Millions of apparel and general merchandise (toys, furniture, consumer electronics, cosmetics, DIY, etc) products use GS1 Standards every day to support the identification, capture and sharing of data with their value chain partners.

We are looking for a profile with brand, industry association, retailer, manufacturer, solution provider experience to join GS1 and support our engagement with these critical, dynamically evolving sectors.

Responsibilities

Project management and engagement support

  • Research, collect and understand how sectors such as apparel, consumer electronics, toys, furniture, cosmetics and others use GS1 standards and potential opportunities
  • Organise and lead working groups with GS1 Member Organisations to support their engagement with durable goods sectors
  • Identify and collect existing best practices around Marketplaces from the 120 countries of the GS1 federation
  • Produce and deploy relevant assets across the GS1 federation, including regulatory topics related with GS1 standards
  • Project lead role for key projects including value propositions, trainings and more
  • Define and manage deliverables creation to help our Member Organisations engage industry, such as pitch decks, pilot toolkits, and more

Sector knowledge and business analysis

  • Monitor external channels such as media, blogs and forums to identify questions and trends for durable goods sectors in topics like data management, compliance, and supply chain transformation
  • Identify and share opportunities or obstacles for new uses of GS1 standards and services for durable goods sectors
  • Develop expertise on key players within the sectors as they are relevant to GS1 standards, including responsible teams within brands, solution providers, and upstream manufacturers

Go-to-market

  • Support the training and marketing teams to produce global best practices and recommendations catered to the sector ecosystem (ESG, compliance, marketing, data management, etc.)

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • 3-8 years’ experience in supply chain, sourcing, ESG, or data management at an apparel and general merchandise goods brand, retailer, solution provider or manufacturer. Online B2B selling experience or consulting experience within this area will be considered as well.
  • Project Management experience
  • Market research experience is a plus
  • Experience producing assets such as pitch decks, white papers, etc.
  • Familiarity with technology and software development lifecycle is a plus, e.g., APIs, product architecture and infrastructure, large datasets, back-end web development.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance topics including the Ecodesign for Sustainable Product Regulation and other sustainability frameworks impacting the sector.

Skills required

  • Must be fluent in English, oral and written. Fluency in other languages is helpful.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Effective relationship builder – one-to-one, one-to-many, internally and externally, with small and large organisations.
  • Ability to create strong and trusted relationships with a globally distributed team in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Demonstrates passion, energy, and drive in their work.
