Application & AI Engineer
Location: Coventry, UK
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 Days per Week in Customer Office
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Rate: £420 per day (Inside IR35)
Are you an experienced Application Security / Cloud Security professional with a strong background in application security, cloud platforms, APIs, WAF, DevSecOps and emerging AI security? We're looking for an experienced professional to support security, governance and resilience across enterprise applications, cloud-native services, APIs and AI platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the administration and optimisation of Azure WAF and AWS WAF policies and controls
- Conduct application security assessments covering web applications, APIs and cloud-native services
- Support secure design and governance of Azure Logic Apps, Function Apps and serverless services
- Assess and strengthen API security, authentication, authorisation and access controls
- Support enterprise secrets and key management using Azure Key Vault, AWS KMS or similar technologies
- Embed security controls within CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes
- Participate in threat modelling, architecture reviews and security risk assessments
- Support AI security governance, risk management and compliance initiatives
- Conduct security assessments across Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled solutions
- Support AI data protection, abuse monitoring and prompt-injection mitigation initiatives

Required Skills
- Proven experience in Application Security, Cloud Security or Cybersecurity Engineering
- Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10 and web application security principles
- Experience securing APIs, including authentication, authorisation, encryption and monitoring
- Hands-on experience with Azure WAF and/or AWS WAF
- Strong knowledge of Azure and AWS cloud security services
- Experience with Azure Key Vault, AWS KMS, Thales CipherTrust or similar platforms
- Understanding of SSDLC, CI/CD security and DevSecOps practices
- Experience with application security reviews, threat modelling and risk assessments
- Knowledge of AI/LLM security risks, governance and data protection
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and documentation skills

Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure Logic Apps and Function Apps
- Exposure to Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Anthropic Claude or similar AI platforms
- Knowledge of AI threat modelling and prompt-injection mitigation
- Experience with SAST, DAST, SCA or API security testing tools
- Knowledge of Zero Trust, SIEM and security monitoring
- Relevant certifications such as AZ-500, SC-100, CISSP, CCSP, CSSLP or equivalent
- Understanding of data privacy, regulatory compliance and information protection controls
