Job Details

  • Title: Application Database Administrator
  • Location: Ipswich

Roles and Responsibility

  • Manage and maintain IDMS schemas, subschemas, areas, sets, records, and database definitions.
  • Support application development teams with database design, query optimization, and change implementation.
  • Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement permanent fixes.
  • Execute database reorganization, backup, recovery, and migration activities.
  • Review and implement database changes through release management processes.
  • Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with mainframe operations teams for batch jobs and system upgrades.
  • Participate in on-call support and incident management as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience as an Application DBA.
  • Good knowledge of CA IDMS / IDMS DB/DC in mainframe environments.
  • Experience with COBOL, JCL, CICS, and z/OS platform.
  • Understanding of database structures such as schemas, areas, records, sets, and subschemas.
  • Knowledge of backup/recovery procedures and disaster recovery processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in production support and high-pressure environments.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
