About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Application Developer with a DevOps mindset to join our team on a 12-month contract basis. This role is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement or remote options within the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and enhancing critical public sector infrastructure by configuring, developing, and maintaining environment management solutions, middleware, and applications. Your expertise will directly contribute to the stability and performance of national systems, ensuring reliable and efficient service delivery. This position requires a UK citizen with at least five years of residency in the UK, as it involves working on a tender under the DALAS Lot 3 framework, supporting Borders & Trade initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Proven hands-on experience configuring infrastructure and applications using Ansible.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming with practical experience in deploying solutions in AWS cloud environments.
  • Experience working with GitLab pipelines to support continuous integration and delivery processes.
  • Solid understanding of UNIX administration, including scripting with Bash and managing RHEL environments.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Behave or Cucumber.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • UK citizen status with a minimum of five years residency within the UK, and currently based in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, support, and maintain infrastructure, middleware, and applications using Ansible, ensuring environments are stable, secure, and scalable.
  • Develop and sustain solutions utilizing Python and AWS cloud services to meet project requirements.
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines through GitLab, enabling automated testing, integration, and deployment processes.
  • Perform routine UNIX administration tasks, including scripting with Bash to automate operational activities.
  • Manage RHEL-based environments to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of application features in collaboration with the existing delivery team.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure or application issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Document configurations, processes, and best practices to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
