About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Developer with a DevOps mindset to join our team on a 12-month contract basis. This role is based in London with hybrid working arrangements or remote options within the UK. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting nationally critical public sector infrastructure, focusing on environment management, development, and maintenance of applications, as well as Java feature development and testing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on impactful projects that enhance the reliability and efficiency of essential services.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Strong hands-on experience in configuring infrastructure and applications with Ansible, demonstrating a solid understanding of automation and environment management.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and practical experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Proven track record working with GitLab pipelines for CI/CD processes.
  • Confidence in UNIX administration, including Bash scripting and managing RHEL environments.
  • Experience with Behave or Cucumber for testing purposes.
  • A background in supporting development and testing within a collaborative team environment is highly desirable.
  • Must be a UK citizen with at least five years of residency in the UK and currently based within the country.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Configure and support infrastructure, middleware, and applications using Ansible, ensuring environments are stable and performant.
  • Develop and maintain solutions leveraging Python and AWS cloud services, contributing to the automation and scalability of platforms.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines through GitLab, enabling efficient and reliable deployment processes.
  • Carry out UNIX administration tasks, including scripting with Bash, to support daily operational needs.
  • Work with RHEL operating systems, ensuring the environments remain secure and optimized.
  • Contribute to development and testing activities using Behave or Cucumber, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate closely with the existing delivery team, developing, testing, and maintaining application capabilities aligned with project objectives, ultimately delivering robust, reliable solutions for public sector infrastructure.
