Software Developer – London
MUST BE LOCATED IN THE UK AND ABLE TO COMMUTE TO OFFICE IN LONDON
We're looking for a technically-minded Software Developer who enjoys designing and building business-critical applications while working closely with stakeholders to deliver innovative technology solutions. This is a hands-on development role where you'll be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements and designing solutions through to coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancement.
Working within a small but highly skilled IT team, you'll have the opportunity to influence the direction of our internal systems, modernise existing applications, and develop bespoke solutions that improve efficiency across the business. You'll work across a varied technology stack, giving you exposure to both legacy platforms and modern development technologies.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, writing high-quality code, and seeing their work make a genuine impact on the organisation.
What you'll be doing
- Designing, developing, and maintaining bespoke business applications.
- Developing enhancements and customisations to existing software platforms.
- Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Working across the full software development lifecycle including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Integrating and enhancing third-party software packages where required.
- Developing reports, dashboards, and database solutions.
- Maintaining and improving SQL databases and application performance.
- Supporting system upgrades and software implementations.
- Applying secure development principles and contributing to cyber security best practice.
- Mentoring colleagues and sharing technical knowledge across the IT team.
- Providing occasional technical guidance during project delivery and helping ensure successful implementation of new systems.

About You
You'll be someone who enjoys development first and foremost. You're comfortable working across multiple technologies, enjoy learning new programming languages, and take pride in delivering reliable, scalable software.
You'll also enjoy working closely with users, understanding business challenges, and building solutions that genuinely improve the way people work.

Technical Skills
We're looking for experience in several of the following technologies:
- OutSystems Development
- PHP
- Microsoft SQL Server
- SSIS
- SQL Database Design
- Power BI and/or Tableau
- Git Version Control
- IIS
- Excel VBA
- IBM RPG
- IBM CL
- Windows Server
- Security by Design principles
- Data Warehouse design
Experience with packaged software implementation, system integration, and application support would also be highly beneficial.
What we're looking for
- Commercial software development experience.
- Experience delivering solutions across the full development lifecycle.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently whilst collaborating with a wider technical team.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A passion for learning new technologies and continually improving your technical skillset.
- Experience within Financial Services or another regulated environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
