About The Role
Our client in the Defence industry is seeking an experienced Application Developer to join their team. This role involves designing, building, and delivering secure digital solutions within highly secure environments. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop robust backend applications, ensuring adherence to strict security protocols and industry standards. You will be responsible for creating innovative software solutions that meet evolving project requirements, often in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to mission-critical projects that have a significant impact on national security and defence operations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in software development, with proven experience in backend programming and application architecture. Essential qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Candidates must have hands-on experience with programming languages such as Rust, Python, or Go, and be familiar with containerization tools like Docker. Experience developing applications using Kotlin Jetpack Compose, and proficiency with version control systems like GIT, is also required. Additionally, candidates should have experience in creating proof-of-concept applications, especially in environments where requirements change rapidly. Due to the sensitive nature of the work, applicants must be sole British nationals and eligible for SC Clearance.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement secure backend solutions utilizing Rust, Python, or Go, aligned with project specifications and security standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather requirements, develop prototypes, and refine application features.
- Utilize Docker for containerization, ensuring consistent deployment and environment management across development, testing, and production stages.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, testing, and deployment processes, enhancing efficiency and reliability.
- Develop applications using Kotlin Jetpack Compose, ensuring high performance and user-friendly interfaces where applicable.
- Manage version control workflows using GIT, including branching, merging, and code reviews to maintain code quality.
- Conduct testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the robustness and security of applications.
- Prepare technical documentation and provide support during deployment and post-deployment phases.
- Maintain strict adherence to security protocols and compliance requirements in all development activities.
