About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Application Developer with a DevOps mindset to join our team on a 12-month contract basis. This hybrid role, based in London with flexible remote options within the UK, offers an exciting opportunity to work on nationally critical infrastructure projects within the public sector. The successful candidate will be instrumental in configuring, supporting, and maintaining environment management, development, and testing platforms. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing the reliability, stability, and performance of vital public sector systems. This role requires a proactive approach to environment management, development, and continuous integration and delivery processes, with a focus on Java feature development and testing.

- UK citizen with at least 5 years of residency within the UK and currently based in the UK.
- Proven hands-on experience configuring infrastructure and applications using Ansible.
- Strong proficiency in Python programming and practical experience working with AWS cloud services.
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines, particularly with GitLab.
- Solid understanding of UNIX administration, including Bash scripting and working within RHEL environments.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Behave or Cucumber.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to document processes and share knowledge effectively.
Responsibilities
- Configure, support, and optimize infrastructure, middleware, and applications using Ansible to ensure stable and secure environments.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance solutions leveraging Python and AWS cloud services, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Support and improve CI/CD pipelines through GitLab to facilitate efficient software delivery cycles.
- Perform routine UNIX administration, including scripting with Bash to automate tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Manage and maintain RHEL-based environments, ensuring system stability, performance, and security.
- Contribute to the development and testing of application features using Behave or Cucumber frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and deploy application capabilities aligned with project goals.
- Participate in environment management activities, including troubleshooting, patching, and performance tuning.
- Ensure compliance with security and operational standards, documenting processes and procedures as required.
