FSCS Application Development and Support Manager

FSCS are looking for an experienced Application Development and Support Manager to join our Technology Senior Leadership Team at an exciting time of transformation.

This role will play a pivotal role in delivering FSCS’s five-year strategy by transforming of our business-critical Deposits technology estate, using automation, AI and data to build secure, resilient and scalable services that improve customer outcomes, deliver value for levy payers and strengthen UK financial stability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transformation and technology leadership: Lead strategic technology transformation across the Deposits estate, using automation, AI and data to improve efficiency and customer outcomes while maintaining stable, secure and compliant services.
  • Application delivery and continuous improvement: Translate business priorities into deliverable technical solutions and drive Agile delivery, engineering improvement, automation and operational resilience.
  • Agile delivery and engineering leadership: Lead a cross-functional Agile team, providing technical direction and overseeing planning, risk, governance, DevOps, CI/CD and solution quality.
  • Operational management: Take end-to-end ownership of the Deposits application estate, including support, lifecycle management, security, resilience, performance and controlled releases.
  • Team management: Lead, develop and resource the Development Team while retaining accountability for service delivery, transformation outcomes and engineering quality.
  • Team collaboration and supplier management: Build effective relationships across the wider Data and Technology teams, communicate organisational standards and decisions, manage suppliers and support wider objectives.
  • Information security and data protection: Ensure Deposits applications and data comply with FSCS security and data protection policies, with incidents reported through established procedures.

About You

This is a key role within the FSCS's Data and Technology Senior Leadership Team. The role will require someone with excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.

Key Areas Of Expertise And Experience Required

  • Delivering complex business and technology transformation whilst maintaining operational service ownership
  • Delivering AI-enabled, automated, or operational transformation initiatives
  • Leading cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams
  • Technical delivery leadership, including sprint planning, estimation, dependency management, release planning, and delivery governance
  • Strong practical experience of DevOps and CI/CD practices
  • Managing engineering teams delivering business-critical applications in Azure and Azure DevOps environments

Successful candidates will also be able to demonstrate behaviours aligned to FSCS's ways of working, taking accountability, showing courage, working stronger together, embracing continuous learning and remaining focused on delivering results.
