Application Engineer – Food & Beverage

Location: Midlands – Field Based

The Role

We are seeking an Application Engineer to provide technical service and water treatment expertise to Food & Beverage customers across the UK. You will carry out onsite testing, troubleshooting, system evaluations and technical recommendations, working closely with customers and Account Managers to improve system performance, reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine customer site visits and water testing.
  • Analyse water samples and operational data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot chemical, mechanical and operational issues.
  • Calibrate and maintain monitoring and control equipment.
  • Support system start-ups, commissioning and new programme implementation.
  • Complete technical reports, surveys and system evaluations.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers.
  • Build strong relationships with engineering, operations, utilities and maintenance teams.
  • Identify opportunities for system optimisation and technology improvements.
  • Work with Account Managers to support customer retention and business growth.
  • Follow all relevant health, safety, environmental and site requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree, HNC or HND in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Process Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing ability.
  • Ability to work independently across a regional territory.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Industrial water treatment, utilities or process industry experience.
  • Knowledge of cooling water and boiler treatment.
  • Understanding of RO, closed-loop and process water systems.
  • Food & Beverage industry experience.
  • Experience producing technical reports and customer recommendations.
  • Knowledge of Legionella control and water hygiene.
