Applications Engineer
The Applications Engineer will be responsible for preparing technical proposals, taking TAMO product through new product design and reviews, testing and audit requirements, developing sales strategies for UK and international sale, providing technical support to customers, where needed, customer visits across the UK, and effective communication with clients. The role will primarily involve sales activities, including identifying customer needs, presenting products, and closing sales. Strategic selling will drive the priorities for the role, customer (new and existing).
In this role, you will report to the Managing Director, and have a good understanding of flow instrumentation and valves, with a strong relationship-based customer focus. A key part of the role will be leading business growth in new product development in local and overseas markets in all market sectors. You will be capable, after appropriate training, of introducing new customers, relationship management, and generating new enquiries. The individual will be required to analyse customer data and come up with marketing and sales strategies to reach, convert, and maintain these relationships. You will have a good understanding of fluid-related products (Mechanical & Electronic), possibly with an applications engineering background.

Are you the right person for the job?
- Technical Sales and Sales Engineering skills (preferably in pressure, temperature, level instruments and valves)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – Native English speaker will be an asset
- Formal Engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, or Production)
- Strong technical ability on valve and instrument standards
- Knowledge of industrial applications and market sectors
- Ability to understand and explain technical concepts
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented
- Ability to work within a close-knit team
- Produce measurable results in sales
- UK Driving licence
- Experience with selling into varied markets/industries
- Good inter-personal skills and results-oriented
- Experience in providing technical support
- Margin conscious sales approach
- Dependable with customers
- Share information with other sales colleagues internally, a good team player
- Proficiency in PC, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel & Word essential
- Some understanding of Business CRM systems such as Salesforce, Maximiser, Encore, or SAP: the company uses Opera lII
- Suitable combination of technical qualifications, sales training, and industry experience

Your Role
- Promote TAMO with customers in person and online UK wide
- Manage the certification process for TAMO’s new valve range
- Work to promote the company as a technical product supplier and increase enquiries significantly over the first year
- Introduce the company’s range of represented and manufactured products to customers
- Apply knowledge of flow equipment range to develop appropriate solutions
- Find opportunities for bespoke designs to meet customers’ requirements
- Generate quotes and proposals to assist the quotes department
- Maintain contact with customers after proposals have been made in order to ensure that the contract is won
- Analyse market data and come up with sales strategies within the UK and abroad
- Develop marketing campaigns
- Act as an influential and integral part of the team, proposing changes to improve customer approaches and internal systems
- Provide input for consideration in pricing decisions, technical information, and customer characteristics for sales strategies
