Job Purpose
The primary function of this role will be to provide technical engineering expertise during the quotation process sales for Solartron ISA’s wet gas, subsea and niche differential pressure flow meter products into the energy sector.
Job Scope
The Application Engineer (Proposals) will provide technical support for reviewing and generating proposals and support order processing/project engineering. The role will work closely with the sales team, application engineers and operations staff. In addition, they will have limited travel to proposal clarification and order kick-off meetings. The Application Engineer (Proposals) will provide proactive and mutual service/support to the sales and engineering team in activities such as reviewing customers’ requirements and providing gap analysis to Solartron ISA’s standard products. The engineer also supports the generation of documentation required through the sales and order fulfilment processes.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Reviewing client specifications & interpreting customer requirements
- Evaluation of customer process data and performance requirements to generate product sizing & selection
- Generating gap analysis between customer requirements (for example specifications, datasheets, process data and documentation requirement) versus standard designs and developing custom products if required
- Preparation of Tender & Contract review documentation for presentation during evaluation meetings.
- Pre & Post-contract engineering for standard and custom products; this includes generation of bills of materials, project-specific procedures and other engineering documentation.
- Technical liaison between internal disciplines, sub-suppliers and customers.
- Produces the quotation technical proposal from templates and the appropriate configured cost sheet
- Occasional travel for customer meetings
- Technical authority on all product ranges
- Ownership of complex and strategic proposals
- Technical decision making responsibility
- Mentoring and coaching of new engineering starters

Experience, Professional Qualifications and Personal Requirements
- Recognised Engineering qualification (Engineering Degree or relevant experience)
- Proven Engineering Experience (10 years minimum), preferably in a mechanical or instrumentation engineering discipline.
- Competent user of MS Office, and sales management tools eg Salesforce
