Application Engineer - Investment Systems

Glasgow (2-3 days per week)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Application Engineer to join a core Investment Systems team within a leading Financial Services organisation.

This is a hands-on engineering role supporting a portfolio of critical front and back-office investment applications that underpin daily business operations. You'll be responsible for maintaining highly available, resilient and secure services whilst driving continuous improvement across core investment platforms.

The role offers the opportunity to work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams and third-party suppliers, ensuring key applications continue to meet both operational and regulatory requirements.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience supporting applications within Wealth Management, Investment Management, Asset Management or Private Banking environments. However, strong application engineers from the wider Financial Services sector will also be considered.

The Role

As an Application Engineer, you'll take ownership of a range of business-critical investment applications, ensuring the ongoing stability, support and enhancement of services that are fundamental to daily operations.

You'll play a key role in incident resolution, problem management, platform upgrades, service transition activities and business change initiatives, whilst helping to improve operational resilience through automation, monitoring and continuous service improvement.

This position would suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working with large data sets and collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Application Support & Engineering

  • Provide technical support for a portfolio of critical investment and operational applications.
  • Monitor application performance, availability and service health.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across production environments.
  • Act as a technical owner and subject matter expert for designated platforms.
  • Ensure applications remain secure, stable and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Support operational readiness and ongoing service resilience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
