Application Packaging Engineer | £500/day | 12-Month Contract
We are currently seeking an experienced Application Packaging Engineer to join a specialist engineering team supporting a major UK government department.
This is a hands-on role focused on the discovery, packaging, testing, and deployment of applications across enterprise Windows endpoints, using Microsoft Intune and MECM/SCCM.

The Role
You will be responsible for packaging and deploying applications across a large-scale enterprise environment, supporting both modern and legacy applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating and maintaining application packages using MSI, Master Packager, App-V, PowerShell, and PSADT.
- Repackaging legacy applications for Intune and Windows 365.
- Deploying and testing applications through Intune, MECM/SCCM, and Citrix.
- Troubleshooting deployment failures, application conflicts, and co-existence issues.
- Investigating and resolving Windows Defender ASR and AppLocker blocks.
- Producing technical discovery and packaging documentation.
- Supporting Packaging Quality Assurance (PQA) and peer reviews.
- Diagnosing complex Windows 11 issues involving the registry, filesystem, services, logs, policies, and user/SYSTEM context.

Essential Experience
We're looking for strong practical experience across:
- Application Packaging – Level 4
- Advanced PowerShell – Level 4
- Microsoft Intune & MECM/SCCM – Level 4
- Windows 11 endpoint troubleshooting – Level 4
- MSI, App-V, and PSADT
- Enterprise application deployment and troubleshooting
- Sysinternals and Windows diagnostic tools
- Intune, Autopilot, and Endpoint Security

Desirable Experience
Experience with:
- Active Directory / Entra ID
- Group Policy
- Citrix
- Ivanti/AppSense
- MSIX
- Microsoft Graph
- Windows 365
- Micke-K Intune Management Tools
Important
This is a genuinely hands-on engineering position, and practical technical capability will be assessed during the interview process.
