Application Packaging Engineer | £500/day | 12-Month Contract

We are currently seeking an experienced Application Packaging Engineer to join a specialist engineering team supporting a major UK government department.

This is a hands-on role focused on the discovery, packaging, testing, and deployment of applications across enterprise Windows endpoints, using Microsoft Intune and MECM/SCCM.

The Role

You will be responsible for packaging and deploying applications across a large-scale enterprise environment, supporting both modern and legacy applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining application packages using MSI, Master Packager, App-V, PowerShell, and PSADT.
  • Repackaging legacy applications for Intune and Windows 365.
  • Deploying and testing applications through Intune, MECM/SCCM, and Citrix.
  • Troubleshooting deployment failures, application conflicts, and co-existence issues.
  • Investigating and resolving Windows Defender ASR and AppLocker blocks.
  • Producing technical discovery and packaging documentation.
  • Supporting Packaging Quality Assurance (PQA) and peer reviews.
  • Diagnosing complex Windows 11 issues involving the registry, filesystem, services, logs, policies, and user/SYSTEM context.

We're looking for strong practical experience across:

  • Application Packaging – Level 4
  • Advanced PowerShell – Level 4
  • Microsoft Intune & MECM/SCCM – Level 4
  • Windows 11 endpoint troubleshooting – Level 4
  • MSI, App-V, and PSADT
  • Enterprise application deployment and troubleshooting
  • Sysinternals and Windows diagnostic tools
  • Intune, Autopilot, and Endpoint Security

Important

This is a genuinely hands-on engineering position, and practical technical capability will be assessed during the interview process.
