Job Title: Mobile Security Specialist

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Mobile Security Specialist to work for our client within the finance and consultancy sector. This is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in Bristol.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, delivery and continuous improvement of the organisation's mobile security framework, ensuring a scalable, adaptable and proactive approach to protecting mobile applications.
  • Partner with Mobile Security Specialists to strengthen and evolve security capabilities across the mobile platform, enabling engineering teams to develop and operate securely.
  • Conduct mobile application penetration testing and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation activities.
  • Perform security reviews, threat analysis and risk assessments to evaluate emerging threats and enhance the security posture of mobile applications.
  • Promote and implement application hardening techniques, secure development practices and mobile security standards across the organisation.
  • Develop, maintain and enhance security tooling, testing capabilities and automation to improve security assurance and operational efficiency.
  • Provide security consultancy, guidance and assurance to engineering teams, supporting the delivery of secure mobile applications throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement of mobile security services, including testing, assurance and security controls.

About You

  • Understanding of application security principles and common cyber security threats.
  • Knowledge of OWASP Mobile Application Security Verification Standard (MASVS) and Mobile Application Security Testing Guide (MASTG). [mas.owasp.org], [owasp.org]
  • Familiarity with:
    • Mobile application architecture
    • Secure coding principles
    • Authentication and authorisation mechanisms
    • Cryptography fundamentals
    • API security concepts
  • Understanding of vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methodologies.
  • Basic scripting or programming experience.

Mobile Technologies: exposure to one or more of the following:

  • Android
  • Kotlin
  • Java
  • Android SDK
  • Android Studio
  • Android Keystore
  • iOS
  • Swift
  • Objective-C
  • Xcode
  • iOS Keychain
  • Secure Enclave

Security Tooling Exposure - experience with, or awareness of, tools such as:

  • Burp Suite
  • OWASP ZAP
  • MobSF (Mobile Security Framework)
  • Frida
  • Objection
  • JADX
  • APKTool
  • SonarQube
  • SAST, DAST and SCA platforms

DevOps & Automation - familiarity with:

  • Git
  • GitHub / GitLab / Azure DevOps
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Automated security testing
  • Agile delivery methodologies

Desirable:

  • Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Industry certifications such as:
    • CompTIA Security+
    • eJPT
    • Burp Suite Certified Practitioner
    • GIAC certifications
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • Experience developing or testing mobile applications.
  • Exposure to cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and security frameworks relevant to financial services.
