Application Specialist
The Application Specialist at AllPoints Fibre Networks will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and optimising critical business applications across both cloud and on-premises environments. Working closely with IT colleagues, Cyber Security, vendors, and business stakeholders, you will ensure applications remain reliable, secure, compliant, and aligned with the evolving needs of the business. You'll take ownership of the application lifecycle, driving continuous improvement and helping deliver high-quality services that enable APFN's continued growth and success.

What you will be doing:
- Managing and supporting critical business applications across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Working with IT teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors to ensure applications meet operational and business requirements.
- Overseeing the application lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, optimisation, maintenance, and continual improvement.
- Configuring, testing, and implementing software updates and enhancements to improve functionality and user experience.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen service delivery and application performance.
- Monitoring service performance, producing service reports, and ensuring alignment with ITIL best practices and service standards.
- Maintaining comprehensive systems and architecture documentation.
- Developing acceptance criteria and ensuring requirements are clearly defined for development teams.
- Acting as a subject matter expert for Atlassian products, including Jira and Confluence, advising stakeholders on workflow design, project tracking, and collaboration best practices.
- Providing specialist application support and guidance to users across the business.
- Gathering and analysing business requirements and translating them into effective technical solutions.
- Supporting user provisioning, SSO/SAML integrations, and application access management.
- Coaching and mentoring junior team members, sharing knowledge and encouraging best practices.
About you:
You are a technically capable and commercially aware application specialist who enjoys solving complex business and technology challenges. You are comfortable working across multiple platforms and technologies, developing strong relationships with stakeholders, and balancing operational support with service improvement initiatives.
You'll have a natural curiosity for understanding how systems work, a passion for delivering excellent service, and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical business outcomes. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy taking ownership of applications from implementation through to ongoing optimisation.

Essential experience and knowledge
- Four or more years' experience supporting business-critical applications within complex technology environments.
- Proven experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Experience with API orchestration and integration design.
- Strong understanding of application support, service management, and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience acting as a subject matter expert for Atlassian tools, particularly Jira and Confluence.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and application-related issues.
- Knowledge of user provisioning, identity management, and SSO/SAML technologies.
- Experience working within SLA-driven support and ticketing environments.
- Strong business analysis and requirements gathering skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving capabilities.
Desirable experience and qualifications
- Atlassian certifications.
- ITIL certification.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
